Sports Updates!

Hard luck to our Boys Soccer Team following a recent narrow defeat in the FAI Primary Fives competition. Thanks to Mr Casey and all members of the squad for their hard work and determination. We look forward now to the Dundalk FC Cup. Similar to the boys, the girls failed narrowly to qualify from the FAI Primary Fives but they, along with Mrs Flynn, should be proud of the effort they put in.

Our Exciting Fire Drill!

We had a great time at our recent fire drill as the fire officers from Dundalk Fire Brigade took the time to show us their fantastic ladder tender in operation. The skill and bravery of the officers was evident from the height (35m) it reached and the reaction of the pupils was a testament to how wonderful an impression was made. Thanks to Gary, Martin, Carina and David for taking the time to chat to the students as well as show us how the ladder tender works.

Engineers Week

Thanks a million to Gareth Kelly from DKIT who came to the school during the week and provided some workshops on the function of engineers in our world today as well as showing how engineering has played a huge rule in society over the centuries. We also took part in tower and bridge building activities- the results of which can be seen below!

Junior Wardens

Thanks to Louth County Council for our new uniforms for the Junior Wardens. This is a very important job carried out by the Rang a Sé pupils who assist their fellow students in the crossing of the road safely after school every day. Pupil safety when entering and leaving the school is of paramount importance and these new uniforms will help our wardens be more visible to the traffic. Thanks to Adrian O’Sullivan and Garda Mick Fitzgerald for taking the time to come and visit the school to witness the responsible work of the students.

Congratulations to our Rang a Sé who received the sacrament of Confirmation last Wednesday following the postponement of the original date due to the poor weather. The wonderful behaviour, responses and singing reflected the excellent work of parents, sponsors and teachers- Mrs Murray and Mr Dunlevy as well as the school choir under the tutelage of Mrs Coggans, Ms Kenny who were accompanied by Breege Mullooley.

Well done to our Rang a Dó who made their First Confession on Monday night. The respectful atmosphere on the night and the superb behaviour and responses from the children were a credit to both their parents and teachers- Ms Conroy and Mr Jones.

First Communion is due to take place on Saturday May 12th.
